May 23, 2006 - E-40, Hieroglyphics, and Too Short Take Control of Rap City!
The Bay continues its renaissance with a weeklong takeover of BET's Rap City. "Hyphy is the like the rebirth of
hip-hop," the show's host, Madd Links exclaimed. BET captured three days of footage in the Bay Area to document
this pop culture movement. Hyphy, which originated in Oakland, has hit the national scene and enticed mainstream
media to document the phenomenon. Everyday next week at 5 PM EST you'll get a new installment of the show
chronicling the past, present, and future of the Bay.
The series opens on Monday 5/29 with Too Short - a pioneering Oakland rapper who went from slanging tapes on the
corner to platinum sales - and concludes on Saturday 6/3 with the Bay Area's Top 10 Countdown.
